Book 1 - Immortality Isn't Forever (Eddie Campbell's Bacchus)
Published in Paperback by Eddie Campbell Comics (02 January, 2002)
Author: Eddie Campbell
Average review score:

Classic comic drama
"Immortality Isn't Forever" is the first volume re-presenting Eddie Campbell's classic independent comic book series "Bacchus". Campbell (known as the creator of "Alec: The King Canute Crowd", and illustrator of Alan Moore's "From Hell") explores the life of Bacchus (Dionysus), the god of revelry as he roams from bar to bar, drinking only wine, and bittersweetly reminiscing about the days when the Greek and Roman gods were in their prime. Campbell not only offers a new story - a gritty and sometimes humorous fantasy out of the 80's, but smoothly integrates re-tellings of the ancient myths, miraculously without them sounding forced or unwieldy. "Bacchus" puts perspective on Roman and Greek myths, as well as using them as source material, but is enjoyable regardless of the reader's familiarity with them.

Btls: Basic Prehospital Trauma Car
Published in Paperback by Brady Games (April, 1988)
Author: J. Campbell
Average review score:

Short and simple
Very useful book. It is written in easy format, direct to the point, explains how to treat injured based on types of injuries, repeating same cautions over and over again that helps a lot to get automatics. There are number of tips given for practical applications and differential diagnosis. Last quarter of the book summarizes all with nice pictures except where author shows checking carotid pulse on both sides of the neck simultaneously suprised me.

Btls: Basic Trauma Life Support for the Emt-B and First Responder
Published in Paperback by Brady Games (August, 1998)
Authors: John E. Campbell and Basic Trauma Life Support International
Average review score:

Good book.
A good book but it would be nice if there was a self test at the end of each section. Not happy with the method of placing a suspected spinal casualty on the board. If the board was placed one third above the head it would allow the casualty to be slide up and into the middle, instead of pushing the casualty across the board and compromising the spine.

Calming the Restless Spirit: A Journey Toward God
Published in Paperback by Upper Room (October, 1997)
Authors: Ben Campbell Johnson and Rita Collett
Average review score:

A primer on developing a closer relationship with God.
In this very readable book Ben Johnson discusses the ubiquitiy of spiritual questing. He offers techniques to explore the role of God in our lives and ways to become closer to God. I recommend this for the person who is just starting a quest or those that are already on a spiritual journey who would like to deepen their relationship with God.

Canna: The Story of a Hebridean Island

Average review score:

An excellent resource of info about the MacDonald's of Canna
There are few books about this small Hebridean island, but J.L. Campbell has written a fully detailed book, giving the history of the people who lived on Canna as far back as the 13th century. As well, he explains their leaving and where they landed in America.

Cat's Play
Published in Hardcover by Viking Childrens Books (June, 2000)
Author: Lisa Campbell Ernst
Average review score:

Short and sweet
This is one of my daughter's favorites, at four months old. It is short enough to hold her attention and she seems to focus very intently on the pictures. It's also very durable, which is great when she wants to grab the book and try to put it in her mouth.

The Christ of the Korean heart
Published in Unknown Binding by ()
Author: Arch Campbell
Average review score:

an inspiring look at the early Korean Church
Back in 1954, just after the Korean War, long-time missionary to Korea Arch Campbell wrote this work about Christianity in Korea. It is more a series of one-chapter stories and anecdotes about how Christ has changed the hearts and lives of Korean believers than an integrated story.
My only two complaints are that it could use a little more connectedness between incidents, and it could provide a little more biographical information about the author, since he is a participant in several of the events. Otherwise, it is a fine book.
The book includes episodes from the period of Japanese occupation through the end of the Korean War. It includes many accounts of pastors who were imprisoned for their faith, martyrs, and others who suffered at the hands of the Japanese and North Korean armies.
Readers should understand that the picture of Korea and of the Korean church which Campbell describes in the book is drastically different from the Korea and the Korean church of today. The society and the church have both gone through extensive changes in the last half-century.
Nevertheless, the book provides many inspiring tales of transformed lives which are lived solely for God's glory. It provides plenty of opportunity for the reader to do some soul-searching. And may it inspire other generations of Christians--in both the East and the West--to live for God in such a totally dedicated way.

Cobra Dane
Published in Paperback by Avon (February, 1995)
Author: John Campbell
Average review score:

Edge of your icy seat...
I am not a book reader... In fact, this is the only book I've read in the last 2 years. Forced to stay indoors in blizzard conditions on a 1998 ski trip, I found a tattered copy of Cobra Dane in the community lounge, and had a "flick" through it... 3 days, and several bottles of bourbon later, I'd finished the book, and was left wanting a sequel. It is a great book! A real thriller, that is truly believable...
